Remote Access Example

In this example, a customer has 5 servers, 2 switches and a router. They want to be able to power-cycle each device if it crashes, connect to each device with a serial console for management purposes and also still be able to manage the system if the main internet router or switch fails.

As illustrated by the diagram above, the ideal solution would involve a dialup or ISDN connection into a serial console server connecting to each device and a power control switch connecting to each device. This solution allows the customer to have complete connectivity in any situation.
