Pornography in the workplace has escalated into a serious problem through increased internet and e-mail usage. not only does it cost companies millions in non-business related internet activity but it has also destroyed many business reputations and has led to harassment cases and employee claims. recent research has shown that a quarter of all email attachments are pornographic and almost 80% of employers have detected abuse of the internet at work.

Many image control solutions on the market have inherent weaknesses. They usually work by performing a flesh tone analysis on an image. The image is then scored on the amount of flesh-tone it detects and a decision as made as to whether the image is pornographic or not. While this is an effective way of blocking pornography, unfortunately it will also block a lot of harmless images such as holiday photos and baby pictures - all of which will score highly on flesh-tone analysis.
